FAQs
What happens at the first session?
The first appointment tends to be quite structured as it's our opportunity to decide how we will work together and what the specific focus of the therapy will be. I will ask you about your current difficulties and what you hope to get out of therapy and you can get a sense of what our sessions might be like. We will also decide how many sessions might be helpful for you, and how often we will review this.
What are your fees and cancellation policy?
The fee is £70 per 50 minute session, payable by BACS 48 hours before the session. I ask for 72 hours notice if you need to cancel a session otherwise the full fee is due.
What if I want to stop therapy?
You are free to stop therapy at any time you choose. I do suggest however allowing at least one session to talk this through to ensure it is the right decision for you.
How many sessions will I need?
Therapy is individual so this can vary but generally I work with people for between 8 and 24 sessions depending on what they bring to therapy and what their goals are. We will discuss at our first session, and then regularly review how sessions are going.
Is it confidential?
Everything you share with me in therapy is strictly confidential. The exception to this would be if I had any concerns relating to you or someone else being at risk of serious harm, in which case I may need to contact a third party such as your GP or emergency services. Wherever possible I would speak to you about this first.
When do you offer appointments?
I offer both online and in person therapy on Monday evenings and Tuesdays. Sessions are usually held at the same time every week. In person sessions are held in a comfortable therapy room in central Altrincham, with excellent transport links and car parking.
